Ductless, mini split-system air-conditioners (mini -splits) serve as upgrade or retrofit applications in residential, commercial, and multi-family buildings. The majority of our work is in multifamily housing, but we also see this application in older houses that have systems with no duct work. These homes were originally constructed with hydronic (hot water heat), radiant panels, and space heaters. Mini-splits can also are a good choice for room additions and small apartments or condos.  Especially, when extending or installing distribution ductwork for a central air-conditioner is cost prohibitive.

Like central air systems, mini-splits are comprised of two main components: an outdoor air compressor (condenser), and an indoor air-handling unit. A conduit, which houses the power cable, refrigerant piping, suction piping, and a condensation drain, links the outdoor and indoor units.
